An unofficial port of the 1994 shooter MDK, a cult classic title, returns to mobile after almost 30 years. MDK is now available on Android in this unofficial port. Finally get the chance to play this classic title on your Android device, with convenient features like touch screen controls and gamepad support. It's an important release because it brings a niche title from gaming history back to life, and it was previously only playable on PC hardware.

Enthusiast port brings 1994 shooter to Android with VR and mod support

The original MDK game was developed by Shiny Entertainment, but this mobile version comes courtesy of the MDK-SDL project by enthusiast nautilusbits. It's a community effort to bring back the classic content and cutscenes, plus new ways to control the game. They're using the MDK-SDL framework to help bridge the gap between old PC code and modern Android.

You'll need a 64-bit Android device running Android 8+ to run it. The software uses the Vulkan graphics API for rendering. There's also virtual reality support for things like Google Cardboard that supports head tracking. You'll need the original PC game files to play.

The October 25th update addressed nav issues and improved compatibility with Mali-G52 GPU. This means the game should run better on certain mid-range chips. There's still work to do on the touch controls, as some are asking for improvements in the comments.

Make the touch controls easier to use! This port also supports PC mods for better lighting, shadows, and anti-aliasing.
