Are you a fan of games who wants to experience the classic strategy game Pikmin and Pikmin 2 again? Well, now you can with the official Android port created by developer SSunnKing. Dubbed Open Nectar, this unofficial port of the games is a single application that includes both games (no emulator required!). This means a more streamlined experience for players who want to switch between Pikmin and Pikmin 2 in one place.

Fan-made port combines two classic strategy games into a single Android application

Designed for mobile, Open Nectar has features not seen in the original games on GameCube. You can play with touch controls (with a customizable screen layout/size for buttons on the screen, which means the game can be played on tablets and phones). Players can even attach an external gamepad if they prefer that layout. Additionally, the port displays the games in widescreen format, utilizing HD textures to support the new resolutions of modern screens.

The app has some interesting tweaks to improve the gameplay experience in terms of replayability and convenience. Players can randomize item/enemy placement, customize in-game day length and squad size to their liking. In fact, the most recent version (1.0.9) released on October 25, which includes new features like custom captains, new Pikmin creations, and campaign combining (for the first game). That's right, players can combine things from both games!

One of the interesting new features in the updated version of Open Nectar? Being able to play the first Pikmin game in co-op mode, all on one device. This means players can use two controllers to play on the same screen with another person, a feature that wasn't available in the standalone games originally.

Keep in mind, though, that this is a fan adaptation of the games. Users will need to provide their own images from GameCube for both games to make it work.
