Pocketpair confirms Palworld is not a live- service game and will not follow traditional seasonal content drops. Update 1.1 focuses on endgame refinement.

If you were hoping for a classic live service schedule for Palworld, you'll need to revise your expectations. Pocketpair has just put it out there that they won't be operating under that typical seasonal content update style you see in most multiplayer titles. This means no predetermined monetization layout for future content updates. If you're into the more organic development cycles, this may be more your speed than what you see as the usual industry practice.

Pocketpair confirms Palworld is not a live-service game and will not follow traditional seasonal content drops.

For starters, they're currently developing the main game's Update 1.1. Pocketpair made it clear that they're not trying to go all-out and overhaul everything. Instead, they're zeroing in on refining endgame content and ensuring the roster is solid for new Pals. It's about quality over quantity, and doing away with the big-splash content we often see with major updates.

Beyond that, they're looking at branching out into standalone spinoffs rather than just adding modes. In fact, John Buckley, Pocketpair's Head of Publishing and Communications, gave us some insight into their mindset with these standalone projects. "For example, Palfarm is something like that. Instead of trying to work it into Palworld as just another mode, we feel like having it as a separate title will let it have more space to grow its own personality and be something special in its own way," Buckley said. This way, they can let each project have its own unique character without feeling tied down to the core game's systems.

Finally, we got a little peek into the overall direction of content moving forward. So, just to be clear, Pocketpair isn't treating Palworld as a live service game in their own eyes. They're stressing that they'll still be doing the free updates for now as they map out the long-term plans.

As for those ongoing legal issues? They're keeping quiet on that front, saying all their energy is dedicated to development. When we were talking about the last Palworld update, some of the same balancing and stability concerns popped up, so you can see they're keeping their eye on those aspects.
