OnePlus/Oppo are rolling out ColorOS 17 ahead of the promised October 29th release date. Early access has already been granted to some devices. This early access is significant as it'll give some folks in certain parts of Asia a chance to experience the Android 17-based interface ahead of time. Indian, Thai, Indonesian and Malaysian buyers can now update their compatible devices.
Early access brings Android 17-based interface to select Asian markets
The rollout specifically applies to the OnePlus 15 and a few of the Oppo Find X9 series devices such as the X9, X9 Pro, X9 Ultra and X9s. The foldable Find N6 from Oppo also gets its early package as well. These are some of the first devices that are able to fully utilize ColorOS 17.
For OnePlus 15 users in India, we're seeing CPH2745_17.0.0.102(EX01) as the firmware version. For OnePlus beta users, it's a somewhat smaller package. Beta users on OnePlus devices are getting a 540MB-ish package.
Stable branch users (OnePlus and Oppo) will need to grab a much larger update file, which is around 3.5GB. Over on Oppo Find X9 series beta, you're only looking at 500MB or so.
Right now it's a four country release. India, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Realme devices are notably absent from this first wave, but the source indicates that those might be up next.
We touched on some of the balance and stability topics last time around we saw the last update for ColorOS 17. It seems like a lot of the same things apply here with this early access. It's not so much a sweeping change, as it is more about little improvements.
