As Bambu Lab is about to take a different approach with their 3D printer with their H3C, the new printer will go beyond simple nozzle changes with a complete tool changer approach. Why it's important? Well, it allows for complex multi-material prints which earlier models of their printer would struggle to handle efficiently. With the leaked hardware details, it's evident that users will have the ability to print with multiple filaments or tools during one print.

Leaked Bambu Lab H3C specs reveal 9-tool system for multi-color prints

H3C is different from the current H2C model with the fact it is ditching the nozzle-based tool changer for a tool changer that can handle up to 9 different toolheads. This means that the 3D printer is capable of theoretically printing with up to 10 different colors/materials at a time. Moving away from the single nozzle approach to the multi toolhead approach is designed to limit user intervention during long print jobs.

Specifications

  • Tool System: Tool changer (9 toolheads)
  • Color Capacity: Up to 10 colors
  • Unveiling Date: November 4

The leaked images show us how the tool changer is laid out physically with 9 different toolheads available to use at any given time. How these tools are actually changed is unclear. We're not sure if its only the printhead being changed or if it's the entire tool. This mechanical aspect is important to know when understanding how fast and reliable the color change process would be in real-world scenarios.

When the H3C launches, we're expecting a price tag to be higher than their current H2C price point. The H2C current price is around $2,200. There's no confirmed price just yet, so expect a higher premium for the extra features. Their official unveiling of the new printer is set for November 4 where we'll probably get more of the technical and commercial details we're looking for.
