Formlabs is launching a new resin 3D printer for home creators, the Form Studio 1. The resin 3D printer is aimed at hobbyists and small shop settings looking to print high-quality items. With a price of $699, the Form Studio 1 offers professional level capabilities at a low price to ensure users can print in great detail without the cost of an industrial printer. Additionally the printer comes with automatic resin management to avoid all the messiness of resin 3D printing.

Form Studio 1 brings professional MSLA printing to hobbyists

The Form Studio 1 uses masked stereolithography (MSLA) for curing layers of resin. The printer features a small build volume of 200 x 125 x 235 mm that will easily fit on most home office desks. The printer is aimed at hobbyists and designers who want a high level of precision with a small footprint that will work well in smaller workspaces.

Specifications

  • Technology: Masked Stereolithography (MSLA)
  • Resolution: 35-micrometer pixels
  • Build Volume: 200 x 125 x 235 mm
  • Price: $699
  • Certification: UL GREENGUARD Gold

Formlabs has equipped the printer with 35-micrometer pixels to provide excellent resolution for printing small details. The printer comes with automatic resin dispensing and heated resin management to ensure a consistent printing quality. One of the best aspects of the printer is the Open Material Mode that gives users the option to use third party resins instead of having to stick with a specific brand.

Form Studio 1 has UL GREENGUARD Gold certification for low emissions when printing with Formlabs Alpha Resins. The printer aims to be fast while still providing excellent quality with most standard parts taking less than two hours to print according to Formlabs. For users that want to manually clean their prints, the optional Form Studio Wash+Cure station can be purchased for $199.

The Form Studio 1 is now available for order worldwide at a price of $699 and will start shipping on November 16, 2026. The new Alpha Resins are available starting at $29 for 1L of resin so that the material costs remain relatively low. With the printer price and materials, the Studio 1 makes for a good starting point for anyone who wants to try out resin 3D printing.
