Google is preparing to release the Pixel Watch 5 on August 12, 2026, but the leaked specifications raise concerns about performance relative to competitors. Buyers looking for the latest wearable technology should note that the device uses a processor from the previous generation rather than the newest available silicon. The processor selection may influence battery life and performance relative to competing smartwatches.

Leaked specs show reused processor and higher RAM for the upcoming wearable

The upcoming smartwatch, internally codenamed Godric, relies on the Qualcomm SW5100 chipset, also known as the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2. This is the same processor found in the Pixel Watch 4, meaning Google is not upgrading the core computing power for this model. The chip is paired with 3 GB of RAM, which is an increase from the 2 GB found in the previous generation device.

European pricing indicates a modest increase for the base model and a notable cost for the optional LTE modem. The 41-millimeter model is expected to cost 419 EUR (around $478), while the larger 44-millimeter version costs 449 EUR (around $512). Adding the LTE modem requires an additional 100 EUR (around $114). Industry sources note that the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 is significantly slower than the newer 3-nm Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite used in the Samsung Galaxy Watch9.
