Some fans managed to port the console-exclusive Bloodborne for PlayStation 4 to the Android platform. You can play the game on your phone or tablet now. This unofficial port is important, as it circumvents Sony’s limitations and lets people enjoy the game on their existing hardware. It’s also a proof that contemporary mobile chipsets are capable of running big console games (although in a tweaked state).
Community developer ports PS4 exclusive to Android with reduced graphics
The Bloodborne port is done by a developer named ducvd89. You can find it on GitHub. The port is based on the earlier Linux PC port of the game. It was ported from Linux to the Android OS.
- Target Platform: Android
- Test Device 1: AYN Thor (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2)
- Test Device 2: Oppo Find N5 (Snapdragon 8 Elite)
- Performance (AYN Thor): 34-35 FPS
- Graphics Settings: Reduced detail, disabled some effects
This is a major technical milestone for the community. Sony never released the game on PC or mobile (officially).
The game runs on AYN Thor (a handheld console with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip). With some downgrading and disabling effects you can get about 34-35 FPS.
The port supports touch controls, external gamepad and mods. You can also use frame generation with Lossless Scaling.
The port also works on the Oppo Find N5 (the phone with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset). We don’t know exact performance on this device. But at least we know that the port works on high-end mobile hardware.
Keep in mind that the developer didn’t say if the game can be played through from start to finish in this unofficial port. If you want to try it – give it a shot.
This is an interesting community project, showcasing the power of modern Android handhelds to run complex game engines. They managed to give us working (but tweaked) version of a big console exclusive on mobile platforms. It’s all the proof of the modders’ technical prowess. Of course, without Sony’s blessing.
