Microsoft has deployed Windows 11 build 26300.9550 to enhance system responsiveness, which has a significant impact on users’ workflow on the everyday life, especially those with average performance PCs. Windows 11 build 26300.9550 is designed to enhance responsiveness on 8GB RAM computers where there are often lags in navigating applications and system menus. It's all about optimizing to try and keep your working data in the fast memory (instead of slow storage drives).

New memory optimizations keep more data in RAM for faster UI interactions
The new update is primarily centered around the memory allocation of the OS for lower performance PCs. Microsoft has actually updated the memory handler for the OS to make up to an extra 2GB of your active data stay in RAM (compared to the previous builds). This is done to minimize data swapping to the hard drive, which usually causes issues on a low-memory system.
In terms of responsiveness, Microsoft is comparing Windows 11 build 26300.9550 with its previous Windows 11 build 26200.7628 on various interface aspects, including Search, Start, Settings, and File Explorer. They claim that Windows 11 is now as much as 20% more responsive on these aspects. They also highlight that “Responsiveness is at the center of nearly everything you do on your PC. It’s the difference between being in the zone and waiting on your device to catch up.”
In addition to overall UI responsiveness, Microsoft also added some specific enhancements to widgets and gaming. Widgets now only load when you interact with it (for computers with 8GB RAM or less), which will save over 200MB for other applications. Advanced Shader Delivery has also been improved for Forza Horizon 6 and Gears of War: E-Day for better game load times.
They also improved AirPods pairing speeds by up to 15 seconds. Many similar topics around balancing and stability were discussed when we covered the last Windows 11 update.
This Windows 11 build release confirms that Microsoft is paying more attention to optimizing the memory aspect of the OS, especially for users who can't replace their system hardware. So this is a significant performance uplift for users with just 8GB RAM without any new hardware. Users should feel a difference in faster interactions and lesser stutters while performing tasks in their everyday life.
