The way No Rest for the Wicked is played is fundamentally changing with Moon Studio's upcoming version 1.0 update. The update includes revamping the current attribute system and instead making it more about weapon-based classes. Not only that but, this update is set to double the size of the game.

Moon Studios replaces attribute system with weapon-based class switching

Those who have been following the game since the last update will understand the deeper mechanical changes and how they are designed to fix some of the balance issues that were present. These are important changes that are going to change the way that players play the game and how they progress through the action RPG.

  • Class System: 24 classes, 362 traits, weapon-based class switching
  • Factions: 6 factions including Severed Hand, Sacrament Guard, and Unspoken
  • Cerim Cores: Risk vs reward system for health, stamina, focus, attack speed, lifesteal
  • Version 1.0 Scope: Roughly doubles game size, new zones, bosses, loot refinements

The biggest part of this update is the new class system. They are implementing a new class system that features 24 different classes, 362 unique traits. The new class system will make it so that your class is determined by the weapon you pick up.

This is how it's going to work. There is no longer going to be the manual distribution of points. Instead, they are going to go ahead and figure out what class you are through the weapon you pick up.

This means that you can mix up the traits for different weapons. This opens up many more potential build options. The new class system also works with the six new factions they are introducing to Isola Sacra.

The Severed Hand. Sacrament Guard.

Moon Studio is also introducing something called Cerim Cores which helps with the idea of player endurance and risk. Cerim Cores control things like your health, stamina, focus, attack speed, and even your lifesteal. You'll have to be careful how much you use these and if you use too much it'll increase your damage from all attacks.

This adds a new risk vs. reward element to the game. This adds some extra layers to your combat encounters and will make you have to think strategically during your fights.

With version 1.0, they'll be adding new explorable zones. New enemy factions completely. New bosses.

There will also be some loot changes to improve the loot reward cycle for players. Moon Studio is working to optimize the game for the PS5 so it can run nicely. The game will be releasing on PC via and PS5 in March 2027. With later releases for Xbox series and switch 2.

The new changes are off the heels of the last No Rest for the Wicked update which focused a lot on balance and stability. So they are adding a lot more content and making these changes to provide a more well-rounded experience when the game launches. Players will be getting a much more expansive world and deeper combat mechanics when the game launches in March 2027.
