Valve blamed rising memory and storage costs for the increase. The company said the new prices "reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole." The changes took effect immediately on the Steam store on May 27, 2025.
The $300 increase on the 1TB OLED is the largest single price jump for any Steam Deck model. The 512GB OLED saw a $240 rise. Valve left the LCD model prices unchanged, so those versions remain available at lower price points.
The price increase comes amid broader industry cost pressures. Memory and storage component prices have been volatile, impacting many hardware manufacturers. Valve's price increase shows that even successful products are not immune to supply chain costs.
For now, the new prices are live globally on Steam. Buyers will pay $949 for the 1TB OLED and $789 for the 512GB OLED. Valve has not announced any future price changes.
