Sega is bringing Lionel Rafale as a new playable character to the Virtua Fighter Crossroads which is going to be a new addition to the game. This is an important addition as the developers say that Lionel is a character who can beat one of the 4 main protagonists (Cielo). This shows a major change to the story. Players are going to see a new twist to the story mode as the new young martial artist comes to the city of Vilasapara.

Lionel Rafale is a new character to the series and can be a new entry point for players who are interested in the lore of the game. Lionel Rafale is a young martial artist who has recently come to the fictional city of Vilasapara. Lionel Rafale is joining the roster along with known characters like Akira Yuki, Pai Chan.
One of the claims by the developers is that Lionel Rafale can beat one of the main protagonists in the game. This makes him a big threat in the game's story mode. The fighting style that he has is similar to the famous Tourou-ken style but it is not confirmed to be the same fighting style.
It is highly hinted from the story aspect that Lionel Rafale is the son of Lion Rafale from previous entries in the series. There are voice lines that are saying that he has a wealthy father and the similarity in the names is hinting towards that but it is still unconfirmed. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is going to have a story campaign which will most likely go into detail about this family connection.
