GAMES

As of October 2024, Street Fighter V has been taken offline for sale on the platform by Capcom. As a result, the digital marketplace for the game is no longer accessible to new customers. Existing owners of Street Fighter V can still run the game but online features are currently not functioning. It's a full shutdown for the Steam ecosystem for the fighting game.

Offline play remains available while online features and digital marketplace are suspended

The biggest shift here is the closure of the Steam collectibles market. Trading cards, emoticons and profile backgrounds are no longer available for the title via . Players cannot buy, sell or trade these digital goods anymore. It was a major part of the Steam experience for Street Fighter V through the marketplace.

The reason for the emergency maintenance came down to critical PHP vulnerabilities. Capcom is actively trying to patch these security vulnerabilities. Offline content for the game is still available to owners. But online multiplayer and the marketplace aspects are temporarily shut down.

It's a secondary market shutdown for Street Fighter V digital goods. Players are anticipating that the collectibles market will open up again when it comes back online for sale. Capcom has issued an apology for the disruption caused by this sudden shutdown. Their focus is on patching security flaws first and foremost before full operations resume.

Street Fighter V is effectively taken offline for a time period from the Steam store during this maintenance event. It's a shutdown for the collectibles market until further notice. Existing owners can still play offline. The game will be back for sale when security patches are applied.

The market is dead. Just wait for the patch. Offline still works.

Does the offline mode bypass the PHP vulnerability entirely or just hide it? I need to know if I can play ranked matches without risk.

Offline play is local only. The server-side PHP code handles the matchmaking and store logic. You are safe offline. The vulnerability is in the web interface.

This reminds me of the old Tekken 5 days. We just burned discs and traded cards in person.

Finally got the card set too. 🤔
