Players who are playing Dying Light 2 on the 28th of October will want to install an update to the game to fix combat. Techland deployed Hotfix 2.02 (build 2.002) that fixes an issue with targeting that impacted game play. In effect, this means that enemy attacks are working properly again, not missing players.
Techland releases update 1.30.1 to restore enemy targeting mechanics
This is update 1.30.1 on all platforms. Techland is rolling it out to fix the ongoing problem with enemy projectiles always missing. Techland has communicated that directly to players.

“Hotfix 1.30.1 is now live on the servers! This update fixes the issue with enemy projectiles always missing Players. Make sure to update the game to the latest version,” Techland communicated.
This is simply a fix to the particular targeting problem. It’s not a content patch or significant engine update. But players will need to download the update to make sure that combat works as intended.
It’s very much in line with the previous Dying Light 2 update which was all about stability and performance improvements. In this case the hotfix is specifically aimed at solving this particular game bug. Any players who had experienced this missing projectile problem should see it fixed immediately upon the update.

Did the targeting fix include the infected jump attacks or just the ranged projectile entities? I need to know before I queue up for a raid.
It addresses the hit registration logic for all enemy projectiles. The build 2.002 update forces a refresh on the server-side collision checks. It should resolve the missing player issue across the board.
finally fixed this broken mechanic 🤔
Techland needs to run proper regression testing before pushing hotfixes. Players should not experience basic targeting failures in a stable release.
Is the 1.30.1 patch mandatory for online co-op sessions or just for single player stability? I want to update but I am worried about syncing issues.
The server-side nature of the fix implies it is mandatory for online matchmaking. Your local client must align with the corrected hitbox parameters.
I just hope this does not break the melee hit detection again like the last patch did.
The article mentions a hotfix but does not clarify if this resolves the server lag spikes we saw during peak hours. Targeting is only half the battle.
Good to see a fix rolling out this quickly for a critical combat bug.
I will wait for the next major content drop before installing this. I have enough bugs to deal with already.
