Samsung is expanding internal testing of its next major software update, One UI 9, to a wider range of Galaxy devices. The update is based on Android 17 and is being tested on models beyond the upcoming Galaxy S26 series.

One UI 9 beta limited to S26 series

One UI 9 is Samsung's custom Android skin. The company has spotted test firmware on multiple devices, including the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy A57, Galaxy A34, Galaxy A17 5G, and several unreleased foldable phones.

The beta program for One UI 9 is currently limited to the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung is expected to expand the beta to other devices soon. The stable version of One UI 9 is rumored to debut with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8, and Z Fold 8 Ultra around July 22.

Stable One UI 9 expected in July

Devices spotted with test firmware include the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, as well as the Galaxy A57, A34, and A17 5G. Unreleased foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8, and Z Fold 8 Ultra are also part of the testing. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also listed among the test devices.

Samsung usually introduces major One UI updates on its flagship models before expanding to other devices. The Galaxy S26 series is anticipated to ship with One UI 9 pre-installed. The stable version is expected to be released in the latter half of the year.

The information comes from internal testing reports. Samsung has not officially confirmed the details. The stable One UI 9 release is expected to coincide with the launch of new foldable devices.
