NVIDIA's five-year-old GeForce RTX 3060 12GB has returned to shelves in China earlier than expected. The Ampere-based GPU is back in limited quantities, with weekly restocks planned to build supply. The restock reintroduces a budget-friendly graphics card to the market.
Colorful Battle-Ax model leads the return
The first model available is the Colorful Battle-Ax GeForce RTX 3060 DUO 12GB V2. Other board partners like ASUS, MSI, and GALAX are expected to receive allocation soon. The card is suited for gamers who require ample VRAM without the cost of newer generations.
The RTX 3060 packs 12 GB of VRAM on the Ampere architecture. This gives it a memory advantage over the RTX 4060 and RTX 5060, which offer 8 GB. However, newer cards deliver significantly better performance in most games.
VRAM advantage over newer cards
The bulk wholesale price sits at 2199 CNY (about $324). Colorful's official store lists the card at 2349 CNY (about $347). For context, the original MSRP in 2021 was $329.
Initial allocation is very limited, with some regions receiving only a few dozen units. Colorful plans weekly restocks to stabilize supply over the next couple of months. Availability outside China has not been confirmed.
The RTX 3060 12GB has been attractive to budget gamers because of its VRAM capacity. The RTX 5060 8 GB launched at $299 and outperforms the older card, but the extra 4 GB can help in VRAM-heavy workloads. This restock provides buyers with an alternative at a comparable price.
