Fan made a remake of Bethesda's Fallout 3 with Fallout: New Vegas Engine Fan made a remake of Bethesda's Fallout 3. And the modder is using Fallout: New Vegas engine. This is an interesting technical experiment worth noting, since it shows you how you can take the older games and incorporate them with current generation graphics (like ray tracing) technologies.
Modder combines Tale of Two Wastelands expansion with ray tracing technology
PC gamers who like modding or improved visuals will definitely find this idea interesting. It's not your typical remasters.
The modder is taking the original game and swapping the engine with Fallout: New Vegas one. Plus, he combined Tale of Two Wastelands total conversion mod to add additional space for the game. So, here you go – you get the bigger map and more content on the new engine.
And for improved visuals, the guy used NVIDIA RTX Remix. It's with ray tracing and neural rendering features. So, he uses Ray reconstruction and neural rendering to upscale and enhance visual quality. He created this modlist on top of the Nuclear Sunset mod to handle all the complicated assets.
According to the modder, this is in progress. There's no release date yet. And it's all quite bad in terms of performance, the modder says.
There are lots of rendering problems and it's bad. But the dev also says that all performance issues should be better down the line.
Well, we already covered some other Fallout 3 remakes. For example, one in Unreal Engine 5.7. So, there's some comparison for those who follow this New Vegas engine build. As of now, this is a showcase of something experimental, not a final mod you can just download and play.
