Recently, modder named maximedgoulet released FoveatedDLSS5, an add-on for ReShade, which works with NVIDIA DLSS 5 for a substantial FPS boost in the supported games. FoveatedDLSS5 is relevant to PC gamers because it utilizes foveated rendering to render only full resolution in the center of the screen and reduce resolution on the edges. Foveated rendering is supposed to help with performance issues on ultrawide and super-ultrawide screens, which typically have issues with high pixel counts.
Modder maximedgoulet releases FoveatedDLSS5 for NVIDIA DLSS 5
FoveatedDLSS5 focuses on the latest generation of graphics rendering technologies. It makes use of the neural rendering capabilities of DLSS 5. It's basically a layer on top of your game engine features to improve performance. You can install ReShade plugin to enable foveated rendering effect without touching the base game files.
- Test Resolution: 7680 x 2160
- Test GPU: GeForce RTX 4090
- Base Performance: 49 FPS
- Optimized Performance: 80 FPS
- Performance Gain: 63%
For example, at 7680 x 2160 resolution, FoveatedDLSS5 delivered a 63% FPS boost in The Witcher 3 (on a GeForce RTX 4090). Modder shared his results with performance going from 49 FPS up to ~80 FPS, based on specific benchmarks he ran. Such a huge increase in performance indicates how foveated rendering can help with extreme resolution workloads that may be very demanding even on flagship hardware.

It's worth noting that DLSS 5 modding community has now expanded to include non-NVIDIA hardware. Source claims that such option is available but doesn't offer any technical verification or specific benchmarks for other (AMD/Intel) GPUs. Meanwhile, we've covered DLSS 5 Neural Rendering mod delivers earlier.
We were also keeping an eye on Foveateddlss5 launches. The support for more GPUs indicates that the underlying technologies may be versatile for various GPU architectures.
