Buyers of the upcoming first-person shooter Wardogs face a unique financial commitment that changes over time. Bulkhead has introduced a scaling pricing model that rewards early adopters with lower costs while penalizing those who wait. This structure means the final purchase price depends entirely on when you decide to buy the game relative to its development milestones.

Bulkhead CEO defends tiered pricing strategy for FPS title

The game is currently in early access and costs $40 USD (around $40.00). Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer explained that this initial price point is temporary and designed to support the studio during development. He noted that the game costs a lot to make and that the current price reflects its value. Players who prefer cheaper alternatives are free to look elsewhere, but the studio stands by the current valuation.

The price will increase to $49.99 USD (around $49.99) when the game reaches version 0.5. This milestone is expected to occur approximately 12 months from now. A second price hike will follow roughly two years into development, bringing the cost to $59.99 USD (around $59.99). This tiered approach ensures that the price grows alongside the content added to the game.

Brammer advised players to buy in cheap now if they want to secure the lower price. He added that those who do not want to get in now can wait for more content and buy it later at the higher rate. We have been tracking Wardogs closely and previously covered how the studio handles development practices in our report on Wardogs CEO Bulkhead Rejects Anti-Crunch Devs.

The scaling pricing model is now the confirmed strategy for Wardogs. Early buyers pay $40, while later adopters will pay up to $59.99 depending on the version. This approach ties the cost directly to the game's development progress and content expansion.
