Bulkhead has drawn attention for its hiring stance on game development crunch. The studio explicitly rejects applicants who publicly oppose mandatory overtime. This policy affects who can join the team behind Wardogs.

Joe Brammer, CEO of Bulkhead, explained that the company checks social media profiles during recruitment. He stated that candidates who tweet anti-crunch messages are not hired. Brammer described the workplace as a place for hard work where results are valued.

The studio defends crunch as an unavoidable part of game development. Brammer said they try to avoid it but do not hide that it will happen. Bulkhead offers bonuses and shares to employees when games like Wardogs succeed.

Wardogs entered early access last week and topped 2 million sales in its opening weekend. The launch faced a review-bombed page due to queue issues. Bulkhead was named one of the UK's Best Places to Work in 2023 and 2024.
