Nirvanana is testing a new design philosophy for its multiplayer shooter Project ZETA to solve a common problem in competitive gaming. The studio wants to stop players from avoiding conflict by hiding until the match ends. This change matters because it forces teams to engage in direct combat rather than letting one person steal the win through stealth tactics. Players who prefer aggressive, action-packed matches will find the new rules more aligned with their playstyle.

New beta rules force player combat to prevent stealthy Capture the Flag wins

Project ZETA is a multi-team tactical arena shooter currently available in a community beta. The game pits four teams of three players against each other in a 12-player match. It supports both PC and PS5 platforms, allowing a broad range of gamers to participate. The core loop revolves around capturing objectives while managing hero abilities and team coordination.

The game launches with 15 distinct heroes divided into four classes: Fighter, Assassin, Marksman, and Mage. Each class offers unique mechanics that shape how teams approach combat and objective control. Players must defeat AI bosses to collect Prisms, which serve as the primary scoring mechanism. These items are essential for progressing toward victory in the arena.

A key rule change targets the final stage of matches to guarantee action. The last three Prisms needed to win are S-Prisms, which can only be obtained by defeating other players. This mechanic prevents teams from securing victory by simply hiding or avoiding the final fight. Nirvanana stated this design ensures the game contains action right until the end and does not slide into a dull affair where one player stealths their way from flag to base while their teammates get into battles on their behalf.

The community beta is the current way for players to experience these new mechanics. Nirvanana is using this phase to refine the balance between stealth and forced combat. The studio aims to create a more consistent experience where every match ends with a decisive battle. Players interested in tactical shooters can join the beta to test the new rules.
