Xiaomi has removed six older devices from its active software support roster, ending the era of regular updates for these models. This change means owners of the Xiaomi 12S Pro, Xiaomi 12 Lite, and several Redmi devices will no longer receive HyperOS feature upgrades or monthly security patches. Users who depend on these devices for ongoing security will need to consider upgrading their hardware earlier than anticipated. The move signals a shift in Xiaomi's lifecycle management as the company prepares to launch HyperOS 4 based on Android 17.
Six older models drop from active software support roster
The affected devices span both flagship and mid-range categories from previous product generations. The list features the Xiaomi 12S Pro and Xiaomi 12 Lite smartphones alongside the REDMI Pad SE tablet. The mid-range smartphones REDMI Note 12R, REDMI 12R, and REDMI 12 5G have also been added to the end-of-life list. These models previously offered users access to Xiaomi's software ecosystem at more affordable price points.
Devices on the updated August 2026 end-of-life list will not receive any further HyperOS updates. Monthly security patches are also discontinued for these specific models. The official policy states that EOL devices do not receive any software updates, including security patches. Consequently, existing users will experience a static software environment until they decide to upgrade their devices.
Despite the end of standard support, Xiaomi may still release critical security fixes for severe vulnerabilities. This policy ensures that essential security protections remain available even after the standard update cycle concludes. The company is currently preparing to release HyperOS 4, which will be built on Android 17. The upcoming operating system is expected to prioritize newer devices over the older models being phased out.
These six devices are now officially classified as end-of-life by Xiaomi. Owners will not see new features or regular security updates for their current hardware. The company is now directing its development resources toward newer devices and the upcoming HyperOS 4 release. Users are advised to check their device status to determine if an upgrade is necessary for continued security support.
