Packaging errors plague Xbox and PS5 physical editions, sparking collector concerns
There are numerous packaging issues across Xbox and PS5 versions. The Xbox versions are commonly seen as missing shrink wrap. These batches are being shipped with only paper stickers as a seal by the supplier.
Leaving them completely vulnerable. As shown by pictures on the internet. These issues are not limited to just missing shrink wrap. You can also see issues such as paper covers installed upside down and discs installed on the backside of the box.
The same issues are being seen with PS5 physical versions. Even Control Resonant, the game is being shipped in cracked cases with loose discs just rattling around. It's as if there's an issue with how publishers and distributors are managing the logistics of physical media.
This packaging issue worries collectors since it is most likely going to cause boxed game versions to depreciate even faster in quality and value. With discs becoming less and less used throughout the industry it only means the physical media will be more fragile and less dependable. At this point it is in question as to how well the physical game version can hold up in the future.
