Samsung’s foray into the foldable tablet market could now drastically change with one important caveat – can they effectively scale it up to 17 inches? For people who crave mobile computing on a big screen, it might be an important development that further blurs the line between tablets and laptops. While not yet confirmed by the manufacturer, such a device is indeed a possibility.
Tipster claims Samsung has started work on massive tablet
Per tipster kro on X, Samsung may be working on a 17-inch foldable tablet. This comes after the August leak which referenced the size of the device in the folded (8-inch) and unfolded (17-inch) positions. According to the tipster, there are several versions and test pieces that Samsung is working on.
Samsung has recently issued a short statement that confirms that they are indeed involved. Their confirmation states that they have already begun developing the device. This comes after their limited-edition 10-inch Galaxy Z TriFold device. A huge screen upgrade from earlier Samsung attempts, if the new 17-inch concept ever comes to fruition.
Meanwhile, Apple is rumored to be testing their own 18 to 20-inch foldable iPad. For the Samsung foldable tablet, however, there are still no official dates of launch, pricing, and display information which puts the project more in the rumor and speculation stage. So, take all that you read here as unconfirmed rumor coming from one source and not any official product announcement.

Samsung already struggled with the 10 inch TriFold. Scaling that hinge to 17 inches without breaking is a massive engineering hurdle that this rumor ignores.
