Modern Warfare 4's ISO Trace attachment uses RFID ammunition to tag enemies on impact, allowing players to track their positions through walls in Multiplayer and Warzone.

Activision has introduced a gameplay mechanic in Modern Warfare 4 that fundamentally alters visibility rules in both Multiplayer and Warzone modes. The ISO Trace attachment for the ISO Nightshade SMG tags enemies on impact, allowing players to track their positions through solid walls. This change matters because it provides a significant tactical advantage that mimics the effect of unauthorized wallhacks, shifting the balance of engagement in competitive matches.

RFID ammunition marks enemies for real-time tracking through solid walls

The ISO Trace functions as an Apex-level attachment for the ISO Nightshade submachine gun. It relies on specialized RFID ammunition to mark targets the moment a bullet connects. The game displays a live feed of the tagged enemy's location on a small screen directly below the player's reticle. This visual indicator persists as long as the target remains within the game's tracking parameters.

Unlocking this specific attachment requires players to reach Level 56 with the ISO Nightshade weapon. The ISO Nightshade has already proven to be a standout choice for many users in the beta phase. The RFID tagging mechanic activates immediately upon landing a hit, ensuring that the tracking data updates in real time. This level requirement makes the ability exclusive to players who have invested significant time in mastering this specific weapon class.

We looked at the last Modern Warfare 4 update earlier while tracking balance themes, and this new mechanic continues that trend of high-impact visibility tools. The attachment effectively grants players the ability to see through environmental obstacles, creating a new layer of strategic depth. Players must now account for the possibility that their position is exposed even when behind cover. The mechanic works consistently across both standard Multiplayer and larger Warzone battles.
