Minecraft Bedrock players can now expand their inventory beyond the standard limits by downloading a free add-on tied to a real-world product collaboration. The Herschel Backpack Trials Add-On provides additional organized storage for both survival and creative modes, reducing the need for frequent item sorting or constructing extensive chest rooms. This update benefits players managing complex inventories by offering enhanced organization without requiring additional crafting effort.

Free add-on expands inventory to 288 slots with automation tools

The add-on is available for Minecraft Bedrock Edition through the in-game marketplace at no cost. The add-on introduces a virtual backpack feature that consolidates traditional chest storage into one portable inventory system. The design mirrors physical Herschel backpacks featuring Minecraft-themed graphics such as Creeper, Enderman, and Dirt Block patterns.

The new inventory system provides 16 pages of storage slots for better item organization. Players can stack items to reach a total capacity of 284 individual slots or up to 288 when using full stacks. With this expansion, players can transport additional tools, food, and building materials efficiently by using a unified inventory system instead of juggling several containers.

Completing in-game challenges unlocks functional upgrades that automate inventory management. Users gain access to Auto Sort for automatic item categorization, Auto Restock for continuous supply replenishment, and tool repair features that restore durability on worn equipment. The physical collaboration bags launched alongside the digital update, with the Dirt Block design already selling out due to high demand.
