Ubisoft Entertainment announced the introduction of a New Game+ mode for Assassin's Creed Valhalla in November 2024. The update introduces a new experience for players who have completed the game. It offers a new opportunity to start over with increasing difficulties for every replay. It's important because the game is six years old and will offer an additional way to enjoy it without having to buy it again.

Ubisoft releases the most requested update with progressive difficulty and new resources

According to the developer, the update is "The Most Requested Update" to the open-world action RPG. It will enable players to start the journey from the beginning while retaining the essential progression. It features progressively increasing difficulty as you complete the game more times. The developer, Ubisoft, claims it will offer new challenges to those looking for a reason to replay the game multiple times.

Along with the update comes some new QOL updates to the inventory system. Specifically, players will be able to access gear and rune storage from the character inventory. This enables players to stash items they no longer want instead of cluttering their inventory with what they're using at the moment.

Additionally, the Rune Forge is getting an update. It will have a new tab for upgrading runes with silver. There is even a new quality of rune that is present in the game now.

Replaying the game will now grant a new resource called Mythril. Players will be able to collect Mythril by collecting gear that they already have or by interacting with books of knowledge they've already learned. The introduction of the new Mythril resource aligns with the new progression mechanics introduced to the game. As part of the update, players will now have new achievements to measure their progress.

"New Game+ has arrived: players will be able to start the adventure anew. In this game mode, the difficulty will progressively rise with each new playthrough, thus providing new challenges for those who wish to play the game again and again," said Ubisoft. This confirms the core loop of the New Game+ mode. The update is available now for those who already own the game.

In addition to that, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is also getting some technical upgrades for next-gen consoles. The game now supports PSSR 2 on the Pro. This is a graphical improvement that should enhance image quality when played on the new hardware.

Also, there are Platinum ingots present in the chests for gear upgrades within the base game. So now you can upgrade your gear to divine quality without having to purchase the expansion.

Six years late. I have no feelings about this.

Does the scaling difficulty actually change enemy AI or just stats? I need to know before I commit to another run.

It scales stats. AI remains static. You get more HP and damage but the patterns do not change.

the mythril farming sounds tedious tbh

PSSR 2 is a software upscaler. It does not replace the native render resolution on base PS5.

Is the rune forge update just a UI change or does it add new rune tiers? I want to know if it is worth the patch size.

storage slots for runes are the real win here
