EA Sports adjusts stamina efficiency and combo chain speeds in the latest patch

The changes in update 1.007 are a response to player concerns about the amount of stamina available during high volume fights. This has led to some fighters being able to survive for longer than expected against their opponents. For players that use the Efficient Variant strikes extensively, the way that your character's energy responds to prolonged exchanges may be different now.

One of the new additions in this update is the inclusion of three new fighters to the global roster: Navajo Stirling, Fatima Kline, and Wang Cong. If you already have the UFC 6 Fighter Pass, you can now play as Chris Leben (UFC 132). This gives you more options to play with as characters, both competitively and casually.

EA Sports has decided to increase the stamina cost of the Efficient Strikes from 75% of the normal cost, to 82.5%. The developer comment states that the general trends of stamina in the game appear to be declining when there is a high volume of fights. However, they mentioned that some fighters like Strickland and Royval were outliers because they used a lot of the Efficient Variant strikes. As such, they're looking to reduce the stamina efficiency of those strikes to balance things out.

In the update, they made some specific tweaks to combo chain speeds to make them feel better and more responsive. For example, they've sped up the combo chain from Lead Head Hook to Lead Body Hook by 4 frames. This is to make the chain more slick.

They've also made the following combo chains slower to compensate for the speed changes. Interestingly, the developer said that this particular slick chain could use more speed. This suggests that it's a targeted change, rather than a general tweak.

Other fixes in this update include improvements to the crash stability, ground game states, and fighter likeness fixes. They want to make the game more stable and have more accurate likenesses. The update can be downloaded right now on all platforms across the globe.

Efficient Strikes cost jumped from 75 to 82.5 percent stamina. Strickland and Royval were outliers in telemetry. This fixes the abundance issue in high volume fights. The combo chains got frame tweaks too.

Does the frame speed change make the Lead Head Hook chain feel too aggressive now? I usually rely on that specific combo for my casual matches. Will it break my rhythm? 🤔

It speeds up the chain by four frames. That makes it slicker not harder. You will hit the Lead Body Hook faster. It is just a responsiveness tweak.

navajo stirling is finally here. took them long enough to add the new roster. 😂

also got chris leben if you own the fighter pass. nice bonus for that specific ufc 132 era fans. the crash stability fixes are good too.

The stamina change is necessary but the combo tweaks feel arbitrary. Speeding up one chain while slowing others down creates inconsistency. It feels like a half measure.

Global availability on November 5th is the only thing that matters. The patch is live now. Download it and test the new stamina efficiency yourself.

Is Wang Cong included in the base roster or just the new additions? I want to know if I need extra DLC for her. Will the likeness fixes apply to her model too? 👀

Wang Cong is a new roster addition. She is in the game now. Likeness fixes apply to everyone. No extra purchase needed for her.

I prefer the old stamina bar. Having it drain faster changes the meta entirely. I will wait a month to see if the balance holds up before engaging.
