Honor 700 series launches with rear displays, rumored flagship packs 200 MP camera and 9,000 mAh battery

Honor has opened reservations in China for the Honor 700 series, featuring a secondary rear display across all models. Rumors suggest the flagship Pro model includes a 200 MP camera and 9,000 mAh battery.

Honor has begun the reservation process in China for the Honor 700 series. It is a design-focused change in strategy for the brand, with the inclusion of a secondary display on the back of the smartphone. The idea is to give users the ability to view notifications and control options without turning the device around or even unlocking the main display. It can be a great fit for users who want unique designs or quick and easy glances.

Honor opens reservations for three new smartphones featuring secondary rear displays and rumored high-end specs

There are three individual models in the series with the Honor 700, Honor 700 Pro and even a more basic Honor 700S. All of these models do have the secondary display on the back that was announced earlier. With multiple models having this feature, it means Honor is putting focus on this interface innovation for the entire series.

  • Honor 700S Cameras: 2 rear cameras
  • Honor 700S RAM/Storage: 12 GB RAM, 512 GB storage
  • Honor 700/Pro RAM/Storage: Up to 16 GB RAM, 512 GB storage
  • Honor 700S Processor (Rumor): Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
  • Honor 700 Pro Processor (Rumor): Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

The models do differ in a lot of aspects in terms of hardware. Some of the more obvious differences come from the amount of memory and camera systems. For instance, the Honor 700S base model only has two rear cameras while also maxing out at 12 GB of RAM with 512 GB of storage. The other two (and more expensive) models like the 700 and 700 Pro are able to handle up to 16 GB of RAM and have three rear cameras.

There are unconfirmed claims of some of the higher-end specs for the series. But it hasn't been verified by the manufacturer just yet. For example, some of the rumors are saying that the Honor 700 might have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor.

Meanwhile, the Pro model is rumored to have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. There are also rumors of the top-of-the-line model having a 6.57-inch AMOLED display, a 200-megapixel main camera, and even a 9,000 mAh battery.

Honor is only taking reservations for these models at the moment and that's only in China. The company hasn't announced official pricing or confirmed specific launch dates just yet. Until then, prospective buyers can check for official announcements as the launch date gets closer.

The rear display is a gimmick. It adds thickness and weight for no real utility.

Does the back screen work for quick replies or is it just for notifications? I need to check messages without pulling out my phone.

    1. Morrow

The article says it controls options and views notifications. It does not mention text input or reply functionality yet.

A 9000 mAh battery is physically impossible for a slim flagship. That is a rumor from an unverified source.

samsung did this with the flip phones. it looked cool then too. 🤔

The article states the 9000 mAh battery is for the rumored top model, not the entire series. Be careful with your phrasing.

I will wait for the global release price. China pricing is usually not applicable to my region due to import taxes.

Is the 700S the only model without the third camera? I need a good zoom lens for my daily commute photos.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 rumor is exciting if true. I hope the battery life is actually good for long gaming sessions. 🔋
