The Skywind Team has provided a detailed progress update on its fan project to rebuild The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind inside Skyrim's engine. The mod is now significantly closer to completion, with many core elements nearly finished.
Detailed progress report reveals near-complete art and quests
According to the team, 2D art is 99% complete, and 28 of the 30 planned level kits are finished. Ten of the 13 regions are at least 90% complete, and navmeshing is 75% done. On the creature side, 14 of the 15 custom creature animations are near-finished, and nearly all spells are complete on the visual effects side. The audio team has finished 82% of exploration music, 50% of combat music, and 64% of dungeon music. A total of 320 of the 484 quests have passed at least one quality assurance pass, and 92% of the roughly 3,000 non-player characters have been voice-recorded.

The team emphasized that Skywind is being made entirely by human contributors and uses no generative AI. A narrator described the project as a labor of love driven by a shared passion for the original game.
The project has been in development for many years, and while no release date has been announced, the progress report suggests a substantial portion of the work is behind the team. The team has not confirmed a launch window.
