Facepunch Studios has released the May 2025 update for Rust, titled 'Upgrade Hard, Raid Harder'. The update is live now and introduces nine rare workbench upgrades that players can find but cannot craft.
Nine rare workbench upgrades added
The update adds mortars for flat land with two shell types: one for targeting players and another for structures. Binoculars have been overhauled with a new model and three zoom levels featuring a range finder. Tin Can Alarms can now be loaded with various items. The vending machine UI has been redesigned with new admin features. Deep Sea loot has been reduced, and drag has been greatly increased for flat-bow boats. Third-person grenade animations are now consistent. The computer station now requires power. An animation issue with the last item in a stack has been fixed.
Discord shop launches with 20% discount
The update also launches a Discord shop. From May 7 to May 21, players can get 20% off Steam Item Store DLC released prior to 2026. Alistair McFarlane said, "We're excited to offer this new level of convenience alongside a massive catalog discount to kick things off."
Facepunch Studios is upgrading Rust to Unity 6 and ending support for Windows 8 and Server 2016. The studio noted that Deep Sea loot was too generous compared to other areas and has been reduced accordingly.
