Housemarque is issuing a free update to their PlayStation 5 game, Saros, in order to keep the game relevant for longer. Called the Zenith Update, this new update is coming on October 19th, 2026. It's designed for both old and new players.
Free Zenith Update brings New Game Plus and Overlord Rush modes to PS5
Old fans will get new ways to challenge themselves while new players will be given the tools they need to deal with the high pressure action in the game. So, whatever way you look at it, this game will keep the action going long after you're done with the main campaign.
There's two big modes they're adding to the game's existing systems with this new update. The New Game Plus mode will let you start a new campaign with the progress you made and a new, harder level. The new mode, which is called Boss Rush, but has the subtitle of Overlord Rush, is all about the enemies. They'll combine different bosses in groups to face off against and end on the last group which is called Totality and it will contain all of the bosses in the game.
To make this game easier for more players to try out, they've put in some accessibility features. One thing they've done is give you the ability to turn on auto fire, which means you won't have to hold down a button during certain sequences in the game. They've also given you the option to slow down the projectile speed.
This makes it easier for you to react to the incoming projectiles. Design lead Abebe Tinari said that it can be hard for some people to hold a button down for long periods of time. So, this way of making changes to the game makes the bullet hell elements more accessible while still keeping the challenge intact.
According to Tinari, they had two main goals for this update. On the PlayStation Blog, he said that they wanted to give replay value for people that finished the Carcosa campaign. Then, they wanted to make the game more accessible so that people can see what's there in the gameplay.
This is the latest update since the last update added the photo mode and trophy challenges. We did talk about the last update to Saros which had some of the same balance elements that we're seeing in this one. So, this is another step in making the experience for players better.
