A new 16-inch laptop is on the horizon from Xiaomi in the form of the Redmi Book 16 2027. With this new notebook, Xiaomi is moving away from its Intel-based processor to an efficiency-focused processor in the form of a Wildcat Lake. This is important because the new Core 5 320 processor is supposed to be more power efficient and although the trade-off is in its multi-core performance compared to the previous Core Ultra 5 125H processor, this efficiency improvement can be a big deal for folks who want more battery life for a regular laptop for daily use.
New laptop targets daily productivity with efficient processor and upgradeable memory
For the new Redmi Book 16 2027, Xiaomi is sticking with Intel and its latest Wildcat Lake platform with the Core 5 320 processor. Geekbench listings show that the laptop has 16 GB DDR5 RAM, so there is a possibility it may have an upgradeable RAM unlike the 2026 model. This makes the laptop more of a general purpose productivity device that will handle daily computing rather than heavy-duty professional work.
Redmi Book 16 2027 Expected Specifications
- Processor: Intel Core 5 320 (Wildcat Lake)
- RAM: 16 GB DDR5
- Display: 16-inch, 1600p, 400-nit, 120 Hz IPS
- Battery: 80 Wh
- Charging: 100 W
For the Redmi Book 16 2026, Xiaomi has put a 1600p, 400 nit, 120 Hz IPS display on it and we expect a similar visual experience for the 2027 model. To add to that, the laptop may have the same 80 Wh battery as the previous version and 100 W charging to charge it back up fast. With the parts listed so far, this is a laptop that will handle typical office work and media consumption.
Based on Notebookcheck benchmarks, the Core 5 320 processor makes the Redmi Book 16 2027 run much more efficiently compared to its Core Ultra 5 125H based predecessor. The downside is the multi-core performance drop which will affect its ability to perform heavy multitasking. As for the rest of the specs, we're in the dark for now since Xiaomi has not begun teasing its new Redmi Book 16.
