A new mod for Fallout: New Vegas adds dynamic combat encounters to the game. The mod is created by a modder known as StealthDick and is available now.

Mod divides Mojave into 179 encounter zones

The mod divides the Mojave into 179 hand-authored encounter zones. These zones are built around real map markers. Encounters are location-aware and respect story progression. Spawn chances vary by location type. Open highway stretches and warzones have a 40 to 65 percent chance of spawning an encounter. Named locations and towns sit around 30 percent.

The mod is available for download globally.

Faction relations and story state gate which spawn tables are used. This means the mod adapts to the player's progress and alliances. The mod aims to make travel through the Mojave more unpredictable without breaking the narrative.
