Former Rockstar animator Mike York criticizes the restriction

The region lock applies specifically to the PS5 hardware ecosystem. Unlike Xbox, PlayStation does not allow simple region switching through software settings. Creating secondary accounts to bypass the lock violates Sony's Terms of Service. This technical constraint forces players to purchase the game from their local region only.

Former Rockstar animator Mike York criticized the region lock as a "garbage policy." He used strong words to describe the limitations but did not blame the studio.
