Evil Empire has released the 'Anniversary' update for The Rogue Prince of Persia, and the changes directly impact how players approach the game's core loop. We see a shift toward smoother pacing and deeper elemental mechanics, which should reduce early-game frustration while rewarding long-term mastery. Players who have struggled with the initial difficulty curve will find the new adjustments make the experience more accessible without sacrificing the challenge.

New ice mechanics and rebalanced pacing arrive across all platforms

The update arrives on , Switch 2, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via , Epic Games Store, and Ubisoft Store. Evil Empire designed these changes to address community feedback regarding specific mechanics that felt unbalanced or repetitive. The developer explicitly acknowledged that some players were exploiting the Air Dash to bypass intended challenges, prompting a structural rework of those sections.

The most significant mechanical addition is the Freeze element, which introduces stacking and shatter interactions. Players can stack the effect twice to freeze enemies completely, interrupting their attacks, and shatter them for tactical repositioning. Enemies in water receive double stacks, and a swift Kick instantly triggers the shatter effect. Wallrunning now actively fills the Vayu bar, rewarding players for staying airborne and maintaining flow.

Level pacing has been compressed in the Zagros and Aqueduct areas to reduce runback fatigue and get players to the action faster. The final boss, Nogai, has received a rework to increase difficulty, and new 'Suspicious Chest' combat arenas are available for testing. Weapon affixes now spawn with up to four slots that can be rerolled at Astara's Shop, while critical hit builds have been nerfed to prevent scaling out of control.
