Leaker measures 8.59mm thickness
The leaker @OnLeaks measured the Xperia 1 VIII and arrived at a thickness of approximately 8.59mm. That is about 0.29mm more than Sony's claim. The discrepancy could be due to Sony measuring only the middle frame of the device, excluding the glass panels on the front and back.
Sony has not yet responded to the discrepancy. The company has not confirmed whether its measurement method excludes the glass panels. It remains unclear if the official thickness figure will be updated or if the leaker's measurement reflects the final retail unit.
