A Minecraft simulation has proven that the game can defeat its final boss without any human player input. This experiment challenges the assumption that player agency is strictly necessary to complete the game's primary objective. The result offers a curious look at how complex systems evolve when left to run unchecked.

YouTuber RedLogic proves mobs can win without player input

YouTuber RedLogic conducted this test by simulating nearly 2 billion years of Minecraft gameplay. The goal was to see if the game's mobs could defeat the Ender Dragon on their own. RedLogic used a Monte Carlo method to accelerate time and started with a seed that already contained a pre-built End portal.

The simulation relied on accidental interactions between different mob types to progress. Snow golems appeared when Endermen placed pumpkins on snow blocks, which then provoked Creepers to clear paths to the portal. The first End Crystal was placed after nearly 3 million years following a missed snowball throw by a snow golem.

The Ender Dragon was defeated in year 1.975 billion after losing only 2% of its health prior to the final blow. Villagers went extinct during the process, and Creeper craters marked the snowy biomes throughout the simulation. We looked at the last Minecraft update earlier while tracking balance and stability themes.

This simulation confirms that Minecraft's internal mechanics are sufficient to complete the game without manual intervention. The experiment highlights the emergent complexity of the game's mob AI and environmental interactions over long timeframes.
