Liquid Swords released Update #8 for Samson, a patch that reshapes the driving experience and adds new content for players stuck in progression loops. The update introduces a playable tutorial prologue that explains the protagonist's past before returning to the main story in Tyndalston. This change helps new players understand core mechanics without interrupting the narrative flow later. Players who have already started the game can access the new onboarding steps immediately.

The patch adds five swappable player jackets that unlock based on Skill Points or story progress. Four jackets require earning between two and twelve Skill Points, while the fifth unlocks upon completing the final story chapter. The developers retroactively awarded jackets to players who had already met the requirements. All unlocked jackets appear in the apartment hallway for easy selection.
Vehicle combat receives significant visual and mechanical updates to clarify enemy weaknesses. Enemy vehicle wheel weak spots now display a blue overlay that turns to blinking red as they take damage. Ramming a wheel in this critical state is the fastest way to destroy a vehicle. The update also rebalances vehicle experience points, removing rewards for destroying normal traffic while increasing gains for mission takedowns and enemy vehicle destruction.
Samson gains three new Takedown Jobs targeting the Grim Skulls, Debt Collectors, and a street gang. The update adds an emergency respawn option at the Clinic to help players recover from stuck save states. This option knocks the player out and applies standard gameplay effects, including potential cash loss. The patch also improves NPC navigation and fixes several mission-specific bugs.
Liquid Swords adjusted GPS routing to favor established asphalt streets over offroad shortcuts. The developers increased fail distances in missions like Fine Old Things and Wreck the Wrecking Crew to reduce premature failures. Achievement thresholds for Car Care and Crash Test Dummy are now lower, requiring ten and five completions respectively. These changes aim to smooth out the pacing of the game's 100+ mission roster.
