Grand Theft Auto VI players are going to have some serious hard drive management to do if they want to play the title come November 19. Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will be up to 212 GB in size. That's going to be a big ask for console players. To help make the game's install a little more manageable, Rockstar Games is moving up the digital pre-load time frame to offer gamers two extra days to download the gargantuan file ahead of the game's arrival.
Rockstar Games shifts digital pre-load to November 10 to accommodate the massive 212 GB file size
Right now, the storage requirements seem to be focused on the PlayStation 5 edition of Grand Theft Auto VI. However, Rockstar Games did confirm that storage space could differ depending on your device. Although there's currently no data available for the Xbox Series S or PC version of the title.
That means Xbox Series X|S gamers might have a different installation size for the title. However, 212 GB is the base number and that's a big number to have on hand for digital storage.
The official time frame for digital pre-load of the game starts November 10 for both primary console systems. For PlayStation 5 players, the pre-load will kick off at midnight local time on November 10. However, Xbox Series X|S gamers are on a different schedule.
Pre-load downloads for the game on that platform will open up at 12 AM GMT on November 10. That two-day gap gives players the option to get their installs out of the way before the game launches.
Physical game owners won't get to pre-load their disc versions of Grand Theft Auto VI until November 12. Of course, the official global release date is still set for November 19. Make sure to check your available storage space this week to see if you'll have enough space to fit in this 212 GB game without having to uninstall anything else.
