Gearbox has released a new update for Borderlands 4 that significantly alters the balance of several weapons. The patch focuses on buffing hard-hitting firearms to match the power of rapid-fire options. This change aims to provide more variety in combat styles for players using different Vault Hunter passives.
Base-game submachine guns receive substantial damage increases in the new patch
Base-game submachine guns received substantial damage increases. Daedalus SMGs gained a 17% boost, while Maliwan SMGs increased by 15%. Tediore pistols saw a 20% damage uplift. Order-made weapons also benefit from reduced recharge times, which are now approximately one-third shorter than before.

Energy shields also see major improvements with shock damage boosts
Specific legendary and DLC weapons received targeted adjustments. The Bully pistol drone deals 66% more damage, and the Budget Deity fires 66% faster. The Unstable Kor shotgun gets a 45% damage increase and a 50% fire rate boost. Conversely, the Roulette pistol faced significant nerfs, with base damage down 15% and fire rate buffs reduced by 75%.
Energy shields also saw major improvements. The Sparky shield now provides a 400% shock damage boost. The Daedalus Angel shield received an 86% capacity increase. Gearbox stated that these changes are live now, with upcoming content including the Subjugator and Thol the Invincibles arriving on May 28.
