Subnautica 2 will launch into early access without proximity chat. The feature is one of the most requested by the community, but it will not be ready for the initial release.

Proximity chat demand high but not confirmed

Creative Media Producer Scott MacDonald said in an interview with Game Rant that proximity chat is the biggest feature players are asking for. He noted that the volume of demand is high, but he does not know if the feature will actually work out.

The developer has not confirmed whether proximity chat will be added in a future update. The feature is on the radar, but there is no commitment from Unknown Worlds Entertainment.

MacDonald acknowledged the community's desire for proximity chat but offered no timeline. The studio has not announced any plans beyond the early access launch.
