Baldur's Gate 3 players can now view the game from a third-person perspective, a shift that changes how you track character positioning and environmental hazards. The original isometric view keeps the camera fixed above the action, but this new mod breaks that pattern to offer a more dynamic angle. This matters because players who prefer action-oriented camera angles can finally experience the game without relying on the default top-down view.

Community mod adds dynamic third-person view to the RPG

The change comes from a new mod created by a modder known as Relysia. This modification adds an over-the-shoulder third-person camera to the game, allowing players to see their character from behind rather than from above. The mod integrates directly into the game engine, so you do not need to install separate launchers or complex patches to use it.

The camera system is designed to react to your character's movements in real time. It dynamically adjusts the field of view while you are running to keep the action in frame. The height of the camera also changes based on whether your character is standing or crouching, which helps maintain visibility in tight spaces. This dynamic adjustment ensures the view remains usable during fast-paced combat or exploration.

You can control the new camera mode using either a controller or a keyboard and mouse setup. The mod supports both input methods, so you do not need to switch hardware to try it out. Larian Studios has not officially released this feature, but the modder has made the files available for download on Nexus Mods. Players who want to try this perspective can find the installation files there.
