On September 19th, the free demo for ArcheAge Chronicles was released on steam. Instantly catching the eyes of thousands of users. XLGAMES remade their 2013 MMO, combining the original with Zelda-esque exploration and action combat. This change from the typical tab target to active movement is a test of the franchise's viability in the modern action-RPG environment.
XLGAMES reimagines 2013 MMO with action combat and Zelda-style exploration
Over 20,000 concurrent players during day 1. Landing in the 3rd spot of the trending charts on SteamDB. Users are able to select 4 classes.
Warrior, Ranger, Berserker, and Mage. The classes allow for the user to experience the core combat and exploration of the game. Which will determine if the game is worth their time or not.
This early access gives the user a chance to experience 2-3 hours of the game's story content. Not only that, but PvP and dungeon raids are available to show off the game's multiplayer aspects. These aspects provide a full picture of the game's design. Allowing the user to experience the game flow and technical prowess first hand.
The demo for ArcheAge Chronicles will be up on steam until October 26th. With a full Early Access release coming soon. Unfortunately, some users have been experiencing slow movement and awkward controls.
Not to mention some technical issues. It's hard to tell at this moment if ArcheAge Chronicles will deliver on its promises, with some of the technical feedback that's been received.
For XLGAMES, this demo is a massive signal to the potential return of this franchise. Getting a massive number of users immediately shows that the interest is there. But with some of the technical problems reported, it will require a lot of refinement to deliver a final product. For the users, over the next few weeks, they should consider if this hybrid action-combat experience is up to their expectations.
