Remedy Entertainment has appointed Jean-Charles Gaudechon as its new chief executive officer, bringing a fresh perspective to the studio behind Alan Wake 2 and Control. The former EA executive now leads development on one of the most technically demanding games in recent memory.

New CEO emphasizes human creativity over automated tools for complex titles

Gaudechon recently discussed the role of artificial intelligence in game creation during an interview with Christopher Dring at The Game Business. He stated that automated technology will not reduce production costs for complex titles like Alan Wake 2 anytime soon, emphasizing human creativity over generative tools.

The studio continues to treat AI as a research and development experiment rather than a core production tool. Gaudechon confirmed Remedy will explore the technology internally but will strictly avoid applying it to creative or user-facing elements of its games.

The studio has a long history of developing its own game engines and visual technologies to create detailed graphics. This approach highlights the studio's focus on manual creation rather than using artificial intelligence tools, despite other companies adopting similar technology in their workflows.
