Remedy Entertainment's new CEO believes Grand Theft Auto VI's launch could boost the entire console gaming market rather than hurt other titles. Jean-Charles Gaudechon told The Game Business that the upcoming Rockstar blockbuster might spark a golden age for gaming.
Control Resonant remains on track for 2026
Remedy's upcoming title, Control Resonant, remains on track for a 2026 release despite overlapping with GTA VI. Gaudechon views the overlap as an opportunity rather than a threat.
Gaudechon aims to maximize sales of existing franchises like Alan Wake and Control before pursuing new projects. He stated that both franchises "could give a lot more" and need to find a wider audience.
Remedy partners with Annapurna for cross-media expansion
Remedy has partnered with Annapurna for film and TV adaptations and co-financing of Control Resonant. This cross-media strategy is intended to expand the reach of Remedy's interconnected universe.
The company's previous title, FBC: Firebreak, attracted 1 million players but generated weak sales, leading to a $17.4 million impairment and a wind-down of its development roadmap. Gaudechon acknowledged that Alan Wake and Control should have sold more.
Control Resonant is planned as a digital-only release on multiple platforms. No physical version has been announced for the new title.
