Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former CD Projekt Red developers, has announced its debut RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. The game breaks from traditional RPG structure by removing a linear main quest. Instead, players have one essential goal: rescue the protagonist Coen's family from a castle within 30 days and nights.

All quests are optional satellites
The studio is led by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who directed The Witcher 3. The team includes other veterans from CD Projekt Red. The Blood of Dawnwalker is their first project since leaving the company.
All quests in the game are optional 'satellites' that can be completed in any order to aid the main goal. Player choices shape Coen's morality, affecting relationships and an infamy system. NPCs can die permanently, cutting off quest lines. A vampiric hunger mechanic adds constant pressure.
Launching September 3, 2026
Tomaszkiewicz explained the design philosophy in an interview. 'We felt in the past that the side quests are more rewarding and better than the main quest,' he said. 'We don't have the main story, which is quest after quest leading us to the end. We created it differently.'
The Blood of Dawnwalker launches globally on September 3, 2026. No pricing or platform details have been announced yet. The game is expected to release on PC and consoles, though this has not been officially confirmed.
Rebel Wolves aims to build on the side-quest quality that made The Witcher 3 famous. By making every quest optional and interconnected, the studio hopes to give players more freedom. The permanent death of NPCs and the time limit add stakes to every decision.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is confirmed for a September 2026 release. It features a non-linear structure where all quests are optional and player choices have lasting consequences.
