Samsung is working on a bespoke rugged smartphone for enterprise inventory tracking needs. Model number SM-G778B is Samsung's Galaxy XCover Scan. The smartphone has an interesting feature — built-in UHF RFID scanning embedded in the processor. With built-in UHF RFID, the smartphone can perform a lot of tasks for warehouse and logistics scanning without any external dongles and barcode scanners.

Enterprise smartphone integrates UHF RFID scanning directly into the processor

Samsung uses Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690 SoC in the smartphone, with 8GB RAM. The Qualcomm Dragonwing SoC scored 1,069 points (single-thread) and 3,142 points (multi-thread) in Geekbench. This makes the Qualcomm SoC slightly faster than the Snapdragon 778G+ and MediaTek Dimensity 7300 (in terms of raw performance).

Specifications

  • Model Number: SM-G778B
  • SoC: Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Connectivity: 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, USB 3.1
  • Camera: Max 32 megapixels

Samsung's Galaxy XCover Scan has 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and USB 3.1 for high-speed data transfer. Samsung uses 32MP cameras at max (because the smartphone is more of a scanning device and made more rugged). Specs, including the processor and connectivity options, tell us that this is a super-efficient workhorse for enterprise needs.

Samsung has applied for a trademark for the name Galaxy XCover Scan. Official launch date is not known yet. We believe this is a successor to the Galaxy XCover7 Pro which was launched back in May 2025.

Enterprise users should wait for official announcement for the price/availability details. All we know of this smartphone is trademark and benchmark leaks.
