Battlestate Games is making significant changes to Escape from Tarkov to lower the barrier for new players. The updates aim to help beginners survive and extract without prior map knowledge.

Insurance returns gear faster after death

Insurance returns will bring back lost gear faster after a player dies. The Hideout progression system will be easier in the early stages but more challenging later. Maximum squad size is reduced from five to four players. A new GPS device will guide new players to extraction points, and shared quests can now be completed as a group. A quest task item locator replaces the previous perception dot.

Beginner players will receive expanded support packs with free equipment. The changes are designed so that new players can play without tutorials, according to game director Nikita Buyanov. He stated that players should be able to extract by themselves without knowing the location.

The update represents a major shift in difficulty for Escape from Tarkov, which has been known for its steep learning curve. Battlestate Games has not confirmed a release date for these changes.
