Xiaomi confirms HyperOS 4 will launch in July or August, integrating the miclaw autonomous AI assistant and native architecture improvements.

Xiaomi has confirmed that its next major operating system update, HyperOS 4, is scheduled to launch in July or August of this year. The release window was verified by Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing during a recent public statement. The July or August launch fits Xiaomi's typical yearly update schedule for its smartphones.

Next generation operating system update integrates autonomous AI assistant

The upcoming HyperOS 4 build will serve as the core interface for Xiaomi's next generation of Android-based smartphones and IoT devices. The update continues Xiaomi's effort to integrate its devices with a unified operating system. Xiaomi will likely expand the update to various phone models after the initial release.

A central feature of HyperOS 4 is the integration of Xiaomi's autonomous AI assistant, known as miclaw. The miclaw assistant runs inside the operating system to handle background tasks and user inputs more smoothly. It reduces dependence on cloud servers for common tasks by using the phone's own hardware when feasible.

The operating system may also introduce architectural changes that replace certain legacy components with a self-developed native architecture. These modifications are designed to improve overall system stability and performance while maintaining full compatibility with existing Android services. These changes should lead to better multitasking performance and quicker app loading speeds.

Xiaomi has positioned AI integration as a primary strategic focus for its smartphone business in the coming years. Xiaomi plans to set its phones apart by improving how the software works with the hardware, instead of focusing only on specs. The strategy follows a wider industry shift toward using smarter software to improve the user experience.

The HyperOS 4 name has not been explicitly confirmed by Lu Weibing, but it is widely inferred based on the current version numbering and release timeline. Experts believe the HyperOS 4 name is likely based on Xiaomi's regular update history. Xiaomi has not yet published a formal announcement confirming the specific version number.

Xiaomi plans to begin rolling out HyperOS 4 updates to compatible devices starting in July or August. Flagship phones should receive the update first, followed by mid-range and budget devices. Owners can check their phone settings for updates as the July or August launch nears.
